Fix Nathan

Sunday, October 02, 2011

Well, we've reached another milestone. 5 years have passed since that crazy night. Wow how things change and yet they stay the same. My wonderful darling boy is 5 today... Okay not really but Steve and I celebrate today just like we do Nathan's original birthday. We are so blessed! I thank GOD everyday for his survival.

Nathan is happily married to a wonderful girl (Laura) and they will be celebrating their first anniversary on November 22. This year has flown. I'm so proud of them both. They have great jobs at Loew's, which is a fine hotel in Denver. They have two (yes two) boxer puppies that are growing like weeds. They are just over 6 months old and are 50 to 60 lbs.

Thank you for continuing to share this incredible journey with us. Thank you for all your love and support.

Until next year.

Love Steve & Bev

Married and turning 29

My oh My!!! I forgot to share with you some of the greatest news. Nathan got married. To a most wonderful girl. Nathan and Laura were married November 22, 2010 in beautiful Mazatlan. It was a wonderful trip.

It's another miracle that my son who nearly didn't survive on 10/2/06 got married. WooHoo! Another milestone.

Oh and he turns 29 tomorrow. Woot! Woot!!!

4 years WooHoo!!!

Well, here it is 4 years later.

Nathan is still living in Denver and is now engaged to a wonderful girl named Laura. They will be married in Mazatlan, Mexico on November 22, 2010. It will be a big family vacation so there will be many of us there to share in their day.

At some time after the first of the year, we will have a reception in the Seattle area for the kids.

Not a great deal to share since my last post. Which I think is a really great thing. Of course he'll always struggle with pain but most of the time you'd never know it. He's tough and deals with it really well.

He and Laura take good care of each other and I think that helps him a lot.

Thanks everyone for your continued love and prayers. We couldn't have done it without each and everyone of you.

I'll be posting wedding photos as soon as we have some.

Love & Hugs

3 years

I don't know if anybody still reads this blog or not but I have to tell you that Nathan is well. Living in Denver and has a wonderful girlfriend Laura and they take good care of each other. They, like everyone else are weathering this economy and waiting for it to turn around so they can find work in their fields.
We want you to know that we are forever grateful for all you did for us.
We love you all, The Mellon's.

The first time Nathan walks

This was the first time Nathan walked since 10/2/06. It still gets me to watch it.

Video of the first time Nathan stood.

This is the first time Nathan stood. It was an amazing day. Wish I could have shared these sooner.

Just had to share

Hard to believe that any one gets excited about weight gain but I am. Not about myself of course but Nathan! We talked the other day and he's joined a gym. He told me he weighs 10 lbs. more than he did before the accident. That is so cool. He was thin before the accident and then after he was really thin. I'm so happy to hear he's putting a little meat on those bones.

I just had to share. That makes me really happy!!!

Hope you are all well. Things are great here.

Love to you all! The Mellon's

Happy 1 Year Birthday!

I've been sitting tonight reading the blog of the past year and thinking about everything that has gone on. Some ask if it seems like it's been a long year or a short year. I think what amazes me it how far Nathan has come in just a year. One year ago tonight at 10:10 Pacific time when we received that phone call telling us that they would do what they could to keep him alive until we got there, we couldn't even begin to imagine a year down the road. Now so much has happened and Nathan has come so far. it's truly a miracle.

Nathan is doing well and is back at school. He still has some things that give him a little trouble but that doesn't keep him down. I think he's amazing. Happy Birthday Nathan!

Reading the blog reminds me of all the wonderful things you all did for us. We continue to feel your blessing and generosity. I just wanted to say Thank You, one more time. We are truly blessed to have the wonderful family and friends that we do.

I just found out that now I can post the videos I took when Nathan was first walking and such. So, I'll spend some time getting those added to the blog. They're kind of neat to look at.

I hope this finds you all well and please know that we keep you all in our hearts and prayers. We couldn't have made it through this year without you.

Love you all, The Mellon's

Already August

Holy macaroni it is already August 11, 2007. I can't believe I haven't been in here since June. Where has the time gone.

First and foremost, Nathan is doing well. He's spent the summer working in Alaska and having an okay time. He works long hours for an unappreciative boss. But it is more experience at what not to do or how to treat your people. I know he's looking forward to coming back to the lower 48. He'll be home on August 26 and will be here for just shy of a week. Will be glad to have him home. Even if for just a few days.

He was telling me the other day that he's been experiencing pain in his left hip that has been getting worse over the last two weeks. He said it's been raining quite a bit up there so it may be weather related. Yesterday was nicer and he had less pain. That is kind of worrisome to me.... hmm...

Steve is doing well. He's still working at Home Depot and experiencing the corporate frustration that many of us have experienced for sometime. I'm sorry for him and his frustration. He's so good at what he does that they can't replace him in plumbing. He'd really like to do something else. The unfortunate part about plumbing is that it is a very needy department and generally people who are there aren't happy because they have some sort of plumbing issue waiting for them...

I'm still plugging along at Farmers. Experiencing some of the same corporate frustration. But after nearly 24 years I've gotten pretty used to it.

Well, I promise to write again sooner. Most likely once Nathan has gotten home I'll have more to tell you about.

Love to you all. Thanks for checking in.
